We're a property investment company using technology to automate much of what has traditionally been a very manual business.
We're looking for a technical lead to join the team. The lead will be very hands on writing code, and alongside the technical founder, will assist in defining the long term roadmap for the product.
We're initially building a research tool to help us identify potential investment properties. We want to build a data ingestion tool that can pull UK property data from across the web, into a local data store, and also push that data into our CRM tool (Podio). We've identified a number of data sources, some of which will be APIs (XML or JSON) and some of which will require us to build web scraping robots, so experience in these areas will be very helpful.
We want a core database that data is imported into, and then a bi-directional sync mechanism with Podio so that property updates flow into Podio, and any changes made in podio are reflected in the core DB.
We are keen to not maintain individual servers, so are keen to explore options. Heroku and a SaaS database are the obvious option, but we are also open to “serverless”, e.g. AWS Api gateway providing the API layer to a Dynamo DB database, lambda being used for the sync to Podio and to import the data from APIs/web scraping.
At this stage we’re open on what tech stack to use - we intend to based the API on JSON-API to allow it to support common features in a standard way. We’re thinking Dynamo DB for the data store initially, but open to suggestions. We’re considering go, node JS, or Python for the server side application, but also open to suggestions here.
We're experienced remote workers, using Slack & Trello to manage the workload & you'll feel like a core member of the team, and will have lots of contact with the founders & won't be treated like some outsourced coder that isn't included in the big picture.
We immediately screen bulk applications - if this role seems like it would be a good fit, we’d expect you to spend some time considering the questions & providing thoughtful answers. We’ll be investing a lot of time in the selection process too.
