We have a desktop application with Wix installer that works well ONLY when we open console window, right click 'Run as Admin' then type the .msi file name (output from Wix project) to perform installation.
If we do not run from admin console window and instead simply click setup icon, install proceeds with NO UAC warning indicating admin privileges required, then installation exits with a non-specific error.
For a better user experience, we want users to click on setup and proceed with install. We are looking for someone to do one of the following:
1. Modify the installer such that it triggers admin UAC prompt and permits user to run the installer as admin.
2. Modify the installer such that it does not require admin at all and will proceed through full installation upon click without error.
Please apply with your experience. I do fully understand this is a VERY simple project for someone, so I can understand that you will not necessarily want to offer exact details about proposed fixes (for example, I do know we might modify target output directory away from C:\program files to avoid admin privilege requirements). However, I need someone to do the work, confirm and test.
I will review bids and send selected applicant the .msi file so that you may confirm you see the same behavior I am reporting. If you see the behavior, I can send full source for repair.
