We are a public relations firm, based in Rhode Island, looking to add to our small team of talented writers. Please read on to see if you are a fit for this exciting opportunity.
As part of our growing team, you will have the following responsibilities:
*Write corporate press releases for our clients about promotions/new hires, corporate social responsibility initiatives/community involvement, new office openings, awards, employee achievements and more.
*Write a monthly corporate newsletter which shall include: letter from the CEO, two short feature articles, division updates, an employee profile, calendar, letters from happy customers and more.
*Conduct research and write articles and white papers on industry challenges, opportunities and trends.
*Distribute press releases to the media.
*Conduct a regular media audit to ensure our contact lists are kept up-to-date.
*Meet by telephone at least once a week and be available by email Monday-Friday.
*Reserve 20-25 hours per month to work on this account. Some months may be as low as 15 hours, some months may be high as 40 hours.
*Be able to commit to this position for at least two years. Freelancing should be your chosen profession. This is not for someone who is using freelancing to earn money while seeking a full time job. You will need other clients besides us to fill up your book of business.
*Mastery of English language (both spoken and written). No thick accents that make comprehension difficult.
*A college degree in any of the following disciplines: English, communication, public relations, journalism, marketing, liberal arts or equivalent writing-intensive area of study.
*You own a copy of the latest Associated Press Stylebook, are familiar with its usage and can apply it to your writing.
*Must be willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement, non-compete agreement and 2-year contract after the trial period.
*You have a reliable, up-to-date computer, that runs the most current edition of Microsoft Office. (We use Macs, but one is not required.)
*You have a reliable smartphone and national voice/data plan.
*You are a self-starter, able to work independently without daily management and complete your assignments on deadline every time.
*You are receptive to constructive feedback and use it to improve your writing.
*You are able to follow instructions.
*You are organized and have self-discipline.
*If you have any questions about an assignment or reach a point which prevents you from proceeding with an assignment, you will notify your manager as soon as possible.
*You will make all weekly phone meetings or notify your manager in advance if you are unable to make it.
*You are on time or early for meetings.
*You are tech-savvy.

*Submit several samples of your work, including press releases, articles, newsletters, white papers or reports you have written.
*Indicate your desired hourly rate.

*If you meet our criteria, you will have one or more telephone/video interviews.
*Applicants who advance through the interview process will be hired for a paid probationary (trial) period of between 30-90 days. If you succeed with your tasks, you will be offered the position.
