Summary of requirements:
We require a developer with the skills to design and build a solution to import our legacy help desk tickets into a new JIRA based system.
This is for a one time import so UI does not need to be extensive or pretty.
The legacy system is based on outlook public folders and custom forms.
The "Importer" process should run from a windows client PC within outlook, either a vsto c# addin or outlook VBA project.
The VSTO option will probably be easier to use the JIRA rest api from but VBA may provide more robust access to the outlook objects - we leave the choice up to the developer.
"importer" will enumerate a specified outlook folder that contains outlook custom message forms, there is one single type of custom message.
Each message contains a number of standard and user defined properties each of these will need to be mapped to JIRA custom fields. The mapping of fields and names should be configurable and allow for excluding fields from source.
In addition there is a single "history" string property, this is populated by vbscript in the outlook message. Every time the message is saved a new "record" of history is prepended to history recording date, effort, comments and property changes and the name of the person saving.
For the history property the "importer" must parse the string to split the history records. Each record is to be added as comments to the issue, the effort field must also be added to the work log for the given date. Note effort can be negative for corrections.
An outlook contact is associated with each custom message - the email address and display name should be extracted and mapped to jira custom fields.
