I made a webpage where I'm downloading many PNG images, these images are all built up from a set of smaller PNG images. The webpage is getting too big with ~2000 of these pre-computed PNG images.
So far I have been creating these pre-computed PNG images back on my computer in C++ and uploading them all to my web server. It is now taking too long to view my webpage.
-make an html file with a script section inside it (just one file)
-get 10 images of number digits (they can be ugly, I don't care), for example 100 x 100 pixels each
-make a function make_composite_image(num) which outputs a 250x150 image (a 50 pixel border with two 100x100 digit images spaced 50px apart)
So your output should replace needing to load 100 images from a server, now only 10 are needed.
I am not sure if there is a nice way to package the 10 images inside the html file, probably not. They probably need to be downloaded somehow at the beginning (perhaps 10 hidden images, or images 0px wide?) to get them into the cache or memory.
Please clearly describe the task as you understand it. Please don't tell me about your previous work!
I am looking for a mix of experience and value
