My company has run in to a problem finding the right software for our needs and I think it can be solved relatively easy with someone who has more talent than myself.
Each week, we go out in the warehouse and count our inventory so we can figure out what we have used each week and what the cost of that has been.
The problem is that the cost of a particular item on any given day depends on what has been paid on it so far and what the price was on that particular order. So each order of an item needs to be tracked separately as well as individual payments made to that order as sometimes 2-4 payments may be made over the course of time.
There are software packages out there that do this but they do much, much more than this that we don't need. And the simple packages that are out there don't keep track of the various costs of inventory.
I have made my own Microsoft Access database to track this but it's not user friendly and I have reached the limit of what I'm able to do as far as custom reports, etc. I have made an Excel spreadsheet to take over the task as I am much more well-versed at that software, but again it's not user friendly and just doesn't feel like the right application to use.
So I don't care what system it's built on. Maybe just fix up my current Access file? Might be easier to start fresh. It'd be great if it could have a web-based interface for anyone on the intranet to use, but that's not a big deal. Show me what you got.
