Overview
Jeremy is a Filipino filmmaker based in Brussels. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Film at University of the Philippines, and finished as Cum Laude. He has been working in the film and media industry for over 5 years, and has vast experience in directing and producing (fiction, non-fiction, social media). His short film, Katong Gabii, followed a Muslim woman and a Christian man who both survived a bombing attack in his hometown. It was screened in numerous film festivals worldwide, and was shortlisted at the 2018 BAFTA Student Film Awards, out of over 460 submissions from 35 countries. It was also nominated for Best International Short Film at the 2019 Melbourne Documentary Film Festival, and was among the winners at the 2019 Visual Documentary Project in Japan. His project in development, ISAGANI, received the HotDocs' CrossCurrents International Doc Fund in 2021. He is producing Angeline Teh's debut feature film, How to Stop Firecrackers from Burning, which was selected for Docs by the Sea 2022. Jeremy is an alumnus of Tribeca Film Institute & In Docs’ If/Then, One World Media’s Global Short Docs Forum, FDD & Docmonde France's ASIADOC Creative Documentary Storytelling Workshop, and DOC NYC PRO. He has worked as a freelance filmmaker, editor, producer, writer, and project manager. He is currently finishing his Masters degree in Documentary Film Directing as full scholar, under the Erasmus Joint Masters Degree in Europe (Lisbon, Budapest, Brussels).
