Looking for a developer to build an app (iOS and Android) that would communicate with a given outside speaker, turning an individual’s phone/device into a “mic”. This app would allow people in a meeting room to share the mic by using their smart phone. I guess there are a few ways to do this – but we would like to avoid Bluetooth, as there are a limited number of devices that can connect. A wifi enabled speaker, I’d assume? The idea is that when you access the app, you simply put in the speaker’s IP address (or code, etc…), and it automatically connects you to that speaker. Now, as you speak into your phone, it comes out of the speaker…like a PA system/intercom/ loudspeaker. The sharing of the mic could happen in one of two ways: Honor system – anyone can “take” the mic from the person speaking by pressing a button in the app, making it possible to interrupt the speaker. Request/Release – if someone else would like to speak, they “request” a turn in the app, and the one speaking can release his/her turn to allow the other to take over. We are not looking to build a chat/video service, but simply a mic/intercom - accessible to all individuals included in a meeting. In this way, no matter the group size, room size, or loudness of a person’s voice, all can be heard on a central speaker by talking into their smart phone. We want this to be simple – a simple solution to a simple, typical problem, with a simple interface. It would be nice if, as individuals connect to the speaker through the app, they are required to type in their name, so that all others connected to that speaker can see who is speaking, and when the mic is free.
