MarketMuse is a decision support system for online marketers. Using machine learning (semantic content analysis), we analyze a website and identify topical gaps in their content. Our infrastructure is written mostly in Scala (Play Framework), with some Java components. We're looking for someone in Scala to make feature updates to our web crawler, authentication, data model and other server-side components. We also use Solr for search indexing. The perfect candidate will have Solr experience as well as some SolrCloud DevOps experience (AWS). This developer will work directly with our Co-founder/Product Manager, who is a developer and built much of the platform. However, the position is intended as mostly a self-directed position, where the Developer works semi-independently at start and, with time, largely independently. We're looking for someone to start working with us part-time (20 hours/week), with potential to move to full-time (40 hours/week). Strong preference for a Developer who can work 8am-5pm in US Eastern Time, or at least 70% overlapping this timeframe.

The purpose of this project is to build a power aggregator real estate search engine with its related android mobile application. The search engine will have a similar layout and main functionalities as zillow.com and/or trulia.com. But the listing or the content of the application (web/mobile) will come from two places. The first one, from crawls/scraping and extraction of all relevant web content content and metadata from local (pays) real estate agences and websites. The second one, as real estate search engine, the application will contains the main features allowing listing advertizing. By this, two differents manners get applied. The first one , is the standard one, adding listing manually by following steps on advertizing form. The second, by referring for instance agencies websites links so that the content listings can be added (like indeed.com with its feature "ads.indeed.com") About the aggregator features, this will be similar as the one of indeed.com for job or Kayak.com for travels. I mean, the crawled content get dispalyed as "sponsoriezd " ads. When the visitors click on it, they will get infos likes on intial website (scraped). But by reacting on ads, they will be redirected to the initial website. For the rest of aggregators features, you can get inspired from indeed.com Technical approach to take in consideration The web/mobile application will be built on: * Solr : search engine interface to the Apache Lucene search library * Nutch: the open source web crawler * Redis for caching * Load balancing * IP's routing
