Online tutor for Machine Learning and Algorithms for Genomics course for almost blind bioinformatics graduate student needed Hallo I am a severely visually impaired student. ... .) • HMMs: training + applications • Motif finding: overview & probabilistic approaches (EM & Gibbs sampling) • Enumerative algorithms 4) Week 4: Deep sequencing data • Data structures and read alignments • Peak calling, transcript annotation & gene expression 21 Syllabus 5) Week 5: From generative models to probabilistic networks • RNA structure prediction & RNA genes • Gene expression networks, hierarchical Bayes 6) Week 6: Discriminative approaches I • Support Vector Machines: theoretical foundations • SVMs: applications and sequence kernels • Random Forests 7) Week 7: Discriminative approaches II • Dimensionality reduction & unsupervised learning • Deep learning My math, statistics and programming knowledge is very limited since I am a molecular biologist by training. I just recently had to switch to bioinformatics because my vision had worsened to a point that I could no longer perform wet-lab work efficiently under time pressure. ... That is why I am looking for a very patient tutor, who is willing to take the time to teach me how to apply all the concepts taught in this course and who could potentially assist me in writing a proposal about how to apply machine learning techniques to make new discoveries I thank you very much in advance for considering taking your time to assist me in learning the skills and techniques needed for earning a PhD in bioinformatics despite me being almost blind. I am very much looking forward to discuss more details with you soon.

The goal of this computational research project is to understand how and why caloric restriction (CR) (i.e. limited food intake) extends the lifespan in most species because we want to exploit the same mechanism to eventually extend lifespan in humans. CR is believed to be an ancient rejuvenation mechanism with lots of potential benefits. Due to the lack of funding no dataset can be provided. Therefore, publically available microarray, RNAseq and other datasets must be used to arrive at new conclusions. Good knowledge of the statistical package “R” is very helpful since past analysis have been done with “R” already. Knowledge of the biology of saccharomyces cerevisiae is also a plus since it is used as model organism to test hypotheses derived from this computational investigation. Knowledge of how to use the Galaxy tools is also beneficial. One aim is to discover changes in the combination of gene expression that extend lifespan in yeast. It is required to find the datasets, which could help to answer the research question above. Findings from this analysis should be presented in a publishable format and recommendations for journals to publish the findings should be made. Preliminary results should also be used for NSF research grant application. Research design and rationale should be explained very well in spoken and written format. Literature review is also needed. I noticed that my text to speech software, on which I am depending to access electronic information, has difficulties reading out the UpWork website to me. Could you therefore please contact me directly visa Skype? My Skype ID is . Could you please send me a Skype invite so we can discuss this and other projects in more details? If you are interested in this project please contact me for more details. Thanks again for your time and interest Best regards, Thomas Hahn Skype:

I am looking for somebody, who can train me in the efficient usage of web interfaces, such as those 3 examples listed above, because due to my severe visual impairment I can only see a very small subsection of the screen. For my work on my bioinformatics PhD dissertation proposal I am depending on the usage of a screen-reader and magnification software named Zoomtext (see http://www.aisquared.com/products/) to access electronic information because I am legally blind.
