The 3D Modeler is responsible for designing and developing solutions for use in multi-user application, 3D simulations and virtual environments. The modeler develops models and graphics for standalone and Web-based gaming applications. The modeler works with the team to develop and implement novel solutions to complex and open ended problems. The modeler works in a collaborative team environment, meet development schedules, and supports integration and testing of the developed solutions. The modeler participates in design reviews and creates documentation for developed products.
Assist in creating 3d game assets, to include modeling, UV layouts, texture creation, and game rigging.
Improve older 3d meshes by adding more detail at the polygon level.
Improve and/or create new textures to use on existing models.
Work with design leads to create various levels of detail for each model, to include high/medium/low poly count versions, as well as possible damage states to each.
Assist in getting models prepped for game placement by working with technical artists on various tasks.
Interfaces directly with graphic designers, and web content specialists to ensure that needs are technically feasible and meet customer strategy and goal.
Assists with designing and developing user-interface features, site animation, and special-effects elements.
Prepares technical documentation.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies.
Work in a team environment.
Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in 3D hard surface modeling.
Environmental Design experience required
Knowledge of 3D modeling and texturing such as UV mapping, effective/efficient polygon use, level of detail, High and low polygon modeling.
Proficient with 3D Studio Max, Adobe Photoshop.
Knowledge Mari and UV Layout a plus.
Knowledge of animation, rigging, and weighting of models a plus.
Knowledge of basic C++ or C#, and JAVA scripting within a game engine a plus.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Strong customer service orientation.
Familiarity with UNITY 3D, Unreal4, CryEngine, Havok, VBS, or other game engine.
Bachelor's degree in related discipline plus 2 years of directly related experience.
Educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 5 years applicable work experience.
