Sports Courant is looking for contract-based freelance sports writers to write match previews, analysis, and recaps for a variety of Sports, particularly Soccer.
We cover Domestic, European and World Football and are looking for bloggers who can bring fresh insight on the beautiful game. We aim not to bring news as it breaks but to offer an alternative and thoughtful view on events.
The Freelance Writers will be expected to follow assigned matches/topics closely while writing recaps and employ sound news judgment when writing previews for upcoming games – all within a given deadline.
Freelance Sports Writers must be available during sports’ busiest times: evenings and weekends. Additionally, there must be a commitment to write on holidays.
Each Freelance Writer is required to produce two excellently written articles daily within stipulated timeframe.
We are looking for long term commitments.
Prior experience of writing and editing sports content.
Excellent grammar skills and the ability to multi-task and thrive in a deadline driven environment.
Ability to generate high value copy quickly and accurately, and handle deadline pressure.
Understand how to use social media, read box scores and extract the most important information about games.
Excellent command of the English language – vocabulary, spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax.
Knowledge of AP Style
Works effectively under pressure and maintains a positive attitude.
