UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. Placing women’s rights at the center of all its efforts, UN Women will lead and coordinate United Nations system efforts to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action throughout the world.
UN Women (formerly UNIFEM) has been working in Bangladesh since 2006, supporting the Government of Bangladesh to implement its gender equality commitments. In Bangladesh, UN Women is currently implementing its country programme which incorporates several thematic areas, including economic empowerment, governance and leadership, ending violence against women and girls, gender & climate change and peace & security. Across all of its work, UN Women applies its normative and coordination mandates, and works through strategic partnerships and on generating knowledge and evidence.
The UN Women Bangladesh Country Office (BCO) is looking for services of a consultant to provide translation services from English to Bengali and vice-versa of office reports, press releases/statements, speech, newspaper and magazine articles, features, audio/video interviews and other important documents including the policy and guidelines as and when required basis. The consultant is also responsible for simultaneous interpretation from English to Bengali and vice-versa during official event and functions. UN Women BCO intends to establish a Retainer SSA contract with the selected candidates for at least one year period. The contract will have provision of renewal in next two years. The service is required occasionally whenever required and only for the time needed.
