Looking for a Web Page Developer / Designer to design a one page employee contacts lookup and publish it to a web site we own hosted at godaddy.com.
We need a process to store and update data on the page from a file daily.
The data changes often and is to be refreshed periodically, or daily, by the end user of the site.
The person updating the data will have limited to no web experience. So the interface needs to be simple.
We would like a process to pull, import, or email the data file, based on your knowledge or suggestions, here are some ideas -any one will work but in order of our preference:
1. pull the file from a shared dropbox location, the webpage back-end would then need access to the shared location
2. allow a user to email the data file to an email address unique to the webpage back-end
3. allow a user to import the data file to the webpage directly from the page itself
for each idea 1-3 above a back-end process will then take the data, make some minor changes, and create the formatted web page.
This file import and associated back-end process is important because it will likely be reused for other pages in the future. That is, we will have other data, different of course that originates from a file that needs to be imported to a different page. So design this piece with some re-usability in mind.
The data is simple and sample is attached:
Employee ID, Employee Name (must delete/mask last name), Address (must delete and omit data), home phone, cell phone, hire date, term date (omit), status (omit)
Our system can output the source data file in: word, excel, mhtml (web archive), pdf, and also xml and csv but the xml and csv sources have a lot of other data so don't want to use
if possible. So probably excel is best. So you have flexibility in file type but there is not flexibility in the data within the file itself i.e. the address will be there we cant remove it with our system but that data can not not appear on the page and should not be stored. The data file output is also not very flexible with headers and other data you may have
to maniniplate it. Excel formatting is good but it has some weird merged cells and extra data that you need to avoid from the data file before it is presented.
Hopefully this is clear. Lots of explanation, but it is really a very simple web page with some data import and manipulation built in.
Previous experience in web design desired
Previous experience in importing files as data to websites preferred
Knowledge of code that will manipulate files to use on the web
Knowledge of working with godaddy as a host
Ability to work with little direction.
The full set of requirements is represented here and nothing will be added. The design of the page will simply be similar to the data file output in excel but presented on the web and cleaned up. So no further design documents will be available. We will assist you by reviewing the page once you have it available.
