I head up a small marketing team and need an experienced PR pro who can help provide some initial support and coaching while we ramp up our efforts.
We are a philanthropic consulting company that fuses art and science to deliver performance philanthropy for our clients. The company provides a full range of advice and services to help individuals, foundations, corporations, and nonprofits in their international development and social change initiatives.
Our PR needs:
My first need is to get a target media list. This includes providing a list of ideal publications, the right journalists, freelancers, as well as bloggers and influencers in our market. We operate in the world of international development and philanthropy, and our clients are both people that work in philanthropy as well as very wealthy individuals. Therefore, our list should have a diversity of publications that range from niche, sector-specific publications (such as the Chronicle of Philanthropy and SSIR) to broad-based publications that wealthy individuals and their advisors are reading (Forbes, HBR, WSJ, etc.)
I’m interested in national publications, not securing local coverage. We eventually may look at international publications and individuals, but that’s not in scope at the moment.
I have some PR experience, but it’s general, so I’m looking for someone who is a thinker, not just a doer, and who can coach and advise me on best practices or ways of thinking about things.
I may eventually have you help look over pitches or provide some light coaching to help us in our initial efforts. Essentially, while this is a short-term, specific project, there’s a good opportunity for an ongoing relationship to help grow our PR efforts.
Project completion of the media list will be based on our mutually-agreed to timetable. I expect our communications will be a combination of phone/video Skype along with email during business hours. I’m based on the East Coast and looking for someone based in the U.S.

• Demonstrated results in securing national coverage for clients
• Must be an excellent writer
• Must have good organizational skills
• Experience in philanthropy, international development, or the nonprofit sector a plus
