I need a structural engineer to design a wood loft structure that meets basic engineering requirements for construction. The project is as follows. I am building a wooden loft inside of a garage that is approximately 40' x 15.5' (600sf). The walls of the garage are non-load-bearing, so a loft structure needs to be built inside of the non-load-bearing walls. The height of the garage is approximately 19', which allows for a loft to be built at an approximate height of 9' off the ground. The 2nd floor (loft) will provide living quarters. I would assume that we will use post-and-beam construction and use wooden I-joists. I need a structural engineer to lay out the approximate materials and construction details from a basic floorplan that I will provide. We need a structural engineer to do basic structural calculations/simulations in 3D for 2 story single home (steel frame and foundation). We already have the structure designed in 3D in ArchiCAD (see the full structure design in this link: https://skfb.ly/SLP9) We need a person able to edit, modify, improve and make a structural report of our project using a user friendly 3D software. We are very open to suggestions about what software to use. Once the report is completed, the project has to be delivered in his native file in order to be editable in 3D. The project is very simple, built with: PRIMARY FRAME: 4x4 11 gauge hot rolled tubular steel + some trusses or I beams. SECONDARY FRAME: 2x4 14 gauge hot rolled tubular steel. ERECTION METHOD: welding FLOORS AND ROOF: uses type B metal deck panels with a 1.5 inch cement coat SHELL: built with 1 inch rib metal lath (herringbone mesh pattern) and structural stucco FOUNDATION: to be designed using basic and simple monolithic slab on grad. Land is flat and surface is very stable. Topographic Survey and Soil Test available. ANCHORING: Main columns have to be anchored to the slab with screws and anchor plates. Actual project was modeled in 3D using ArchiCAD, so it is recommended you be able to import the 3D model from (.pln) file with your software. We need the usual structural report, with emphasis in wind tests, since the area is subject to Category 5 Hurricane forces. Report has to include material quantity. I am looking for a civil/structural engineer (PE) to provide me with structural drawings and sketches showing layout and measurements for a simple 6-sided (hexagonal) earthbag structure with one door and two windows. The focus of this prototype is the development of a novel catenary foam dome roof system (see attached “Catenary Foam Dome - A Primer”). Critical questions are: How would the catenary foam dome structure be attached to the concrete bond beam on top of the earthbag wall? What method would be used to determine load bearing calculations including live load, dead load, and diaphragm deflection? I am applying for a three-phase Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant for developing ultra-low cost housing using the earthbag building system. The phase 1 portion of the SBIR grant will require only a simple prototype: there will be a dirt floor, no electrical, no plumbing, no HVAC. Merritt LLC currently holds a patent on an emergency shelter container kit, and we are trying to develop that product to meet the needs of farm labor housing in the US. The civil/structural engineer who works on this project is not expected to be knowledgeable about earthbag building, however, a general knowledge of the work done by Dr. Owen Geiger and/or Precision 1 Engineering would be considered an advantage. I have a working knowledge of Google Sketchup, but I do not have access to AutoCAD. All deliverables must be in .pdf format for the grant submission. Please provide some samples of your work. Pending successful completion of the phase 1 SBIR grant, the much larger phase 2 portion would involve building an entire demonstration farm labor camp that meets OSHA H2-A standards for far labor housing. Now for next prototype & to complete the purpose, we want a transportation designer, or a person who have experience in the domain (from sketch till CAD model). Again as the project is meant to be brought in real life later, proper detailing (GD&T) of CAD model is of utmost importance.
