Our consulting firm is seeking a graphic designer to join and become a regular and integral part of our team.
This position is only appropriate for a talented and accomplished graphic designer with an excellent sense of style and design; and meaningful prior experience at a high level who can provide us with an exceptional portfolio for us to review and evaluate in advance. However, the contractor's characteristics that are likely to make this position successful in the long run obviously also include the following: being on time, work ethics, effort, body language (we use video Skype), energy, attitude, passion, being considerate, doing extra and being prepared.
To begin with, we anticipate providing trial projects to a few individuals. You will be paid for your time working on these projects during the trial period.
After the trial period, we will evaluate the work product from each participant in the trial period and then select one person to engage who could then expect a steady flow of work (20-40 hours/week) for 2-3 months. At the end of that period, the work is expected to slow down, but we are hoping to maintain a long-term working relationship with whoever we end up selecting to join our team and we are confident that we will need ongoing graphic design and document preparation and editing work for some time to come.
We are already working with a marketing strategist. Our plan is to prepare presentations, brochures, handouts that describe our team and our capabilities, infographics to communicate difficult concepts in an accessible way, preparation of numerically accurate graphics and graphs.
At this point, we are looking for an excellent graphic designer who can prepare custom infographics, preparing and editing documents in InDesign, revising/refining presentations in PowerPoint and Prezi, and generally being responsible for providing complete support to all of the members of our team with our extensive graphics, design, etc. needs.
If you are familiar with website design and development or video editing that is a plus (because those projects are part of our long-term plans); however, that is not the purpose of the position that we are currently posting for.
Also, although not required, a prior background with business and/or legal issues facing business owners would be helpful.
We are proposing to pay $5 - $10/hour. At the end of the trial period when we select one person to join our team, we anticipate providing a minimum of at least 20 hours/week for 8 weeks. Please note that this minimum level of work is contingent on your continued successful job performance (see second paragraph above).
The employer is located in the United States, but we have substantial experience on the Upwork platform working with contractors in the US and around the globe.
The successful applicant for this position will need to be comfortable coordinating with a variety of individuals--both our local employees and independent contractor workers who are otherwise a part of our team.
