The issue: The PDF fields are calculated and the file is saved, but when you view the file in Gmail in preview mode, the calculations are reverted to their original incorrect values. We want the values in preview mode to be correct, and when the physical file is downloaded, we want the fields to be uneditable (aka flattened). - When I add in the code for flattening, the calculations are always reverted, and the Total Savings is always negative. Also when you open the file, the javascript never runs. So this is no good. - When I remove the flattening, the calculations are done and the file is saved. The preview in Gmail still shows a negative value, but when you physically open the file from disk, the javascript is run and the values are correct. This is proven when you try to close the file and it says "do you want to save changes", so I know the javascript is running here. - So I tried to open the file and perform a save *programatically*, to trigger the javascript, but this doesn't happen. - People suggested saving the file *without* flattening, then reopening the file, adding flattening, and saving again. This didn't work either and just made the javascript never run. - People suggested using a property called "GenerateAppearances" and setting it to true before any fields are written in the code. I tried this but it did not work. - People suggested that FormFlattening and GenerateAppearances only work in older versions of iTextSharp so I uninstalled 5.5.9 and installed 5.4.3 which supposedly worked for others, but it didn't for me. - People suggested using a function called SetFullCompression which I tried but it wiped the form clean completely. - One person suggested saving the file without flattening, then duplicating the file (create a copy) then apply flattening to the copy and deleting the original file, which I tried but didn't work. I tried all of these solutions, together and separately, and nothing worked. Now I am at the point where I am just blindly trying different things in the hope that it changes something, but I am getting nowhere, and have run out of suggestions on forums. I feel that someone who has encountered this problem before would know how to solve it immediately, as it appears to be not the first of its kind, but I myself could spend days more trying things that may be futile.

Hi, 1. I have some editable PDF forms that need to be fixed. They have text alignment issues and incorrect font problems. etc 2. I also have adobe Indesign project files for flyers and postcards which I need converted into editable pdf's. I use adobe acrobat pro on a Mac with OSX Yosemite In the past I have had conversion issues with designers using liveCycle ES4 on a pc... and When I received the editable pdf, the alignment and text was all messed up. Note: I have a handful of projects, we will do 1 at a time. Please address these 2 issues: 1. if you use adobe acrobat, do you know how to insert image place-holders (NOT icon placeholders?) 2. If you use LiveCycle, do you know how to convert an editable pdf to use on a mac without the text and alignment issues?
