Looking for expert advice on what to do. (that's all)
We are discussing with a Peruvian TV Channel the possibility of creating an app to play their video content (300 hours of video episodes). They asked me to investigate an issue they have with their content.
Currently we have an app platform which supports MP4 format but it seems like their content is very high quality XDCAM disks in MXF format.
They told me that it is taking them 13 minutes to convert a 1 minute clip to MP4.
They have 300 HOURS of content. Just imagine how long it would take to convert all of that.
So we are evaluating several options.
1. Convert to MP4 (the way that they are doing it is not viable. But if there is a more efficient way, we are open to it)
2. Convert to another format to use in mobile apps.
3. We want the content to be optimized for apps, so we don't want it to buffer forever or be too huge in disk size.
