I'm looking for a professional children's PB Illustrator who would be interested in bringing an important environmental, inspirational true story to life. It's a 32-page manuscript about the friendship between a world-famous ornithologist and a rare Whooping Crane, which ultimately helped the Whooping Cranes survive extinction.
The illustrator would need to be able to draw both Whooping Cranes and people. I'd need to have one sample done (which I can pay for), and we'd use one illustration for the cover page. I'm thinking that it would be nice to do this in watercolors to provide a magical feeling behind this story.
Ideally, I'd like to have the project finished within 3 months. We'd start with a pencil sketch, then ink and then colors. The illustrator would need to be familiar with how to lay-out the page and leave room for the book's binding. I have written out illustration ideas on each of the pages, and I also have photos of both the man and the bird.
