The purpose of the project is to transform my agricultural investment overview into a 3,000 to 5,000 word report (with supporting figures, tables, charts and or illustrations, designed to demonstrate a compelling case for making agricultural investments). The investment argument should be premised along the notion that agricultural investments are (or can be) a significant diversifier for traditional multi-asset class portfolios that are expected to increase return and/or lower risk over the long term. It should include an effort to show that in a period of very low financial yield (low and even negative interest rates around the world) that certain agricultural investments can offer yields that are relatively attractive. And, naturally, the analysis should make the argument that certain agricultural investments can serve as a meaningful hedge against any eventual periods of inflation.
For purposes of this project agricultural investments should be limited to global farmland; commodity futures; listed equities and private equity (and must not be limited to simply farm land as a proxy for agriculture). The paper should (i) outline the investment case qualitatively (describing the primary different types of agricultural investments); (ii) empirically demonstrate the benefits (on a standalone basis and within the context of a diversified portfolio; and (iii) report on the general trend of increasing interest in the space from institutional, sovereign and high-net worth investors.
I attach "CaseForAgInvestments" as the basis of this report. The link to the attached article below is a good example of research that has been done on Agricultural investments. It should certainly help serve as a good map and source of knowledge/research but it must not be plagiarised. For the avoidance of doubt any work returned to me will be considered solely my intellectual property. http://www.valoral.com/_apps_/download/get/2015-global-food-agriculture-investment-outlook/56.html
