We are working on a cross-platform GUI application that is going to be provided for Windows (7 and up), Mac OS X and Linux (mainly Ubuntu). Main logic of the application is ready and is going to be provided as .a or .o files (or as dynamic library, not decided yet) for linking during the GUI compilation. The requirements to the resulting application: - Cross-platform: must be "write once, run everywhere" style. Ideally with as little as possible platform specific hacks inside the code - Use minimum resources: the target devices are laptops and we cannot afford to drain the battery there, the application will run in the background most of the time and thus it cannot use much CPU/RAM as user will need them for other applications - Small size: updates and fixes will require users to download entire application and this will happen rather often, also expected that connectivity will be unstable thus smaller the size the easier it is to be downloaded. - No external dependencies: any library, framework should be bundled with the application (either statically or dynamically linked) From the above - the entire job is to develop a cross-platform GUI application. Options we are considering for the development environment are C/C++ (with a variety of GUI frameworks) or FPC/Lazarus.
