>> appliance information 1) barebones/hardware is a zycoo P2 appliance, which is an unbranded replica of their U100 pbx appliance. www.zycoo.com 2) U100 appliance is installed with a zycoo proprietary asterisk, and P2 is sold as is. 3) P2 is certified with elastix 2.4.0 4) different communication modules can be installed in the appliance - fxo, fxs, 2gsm, 4gsm, pri t1/e1 5) this appliance is equipped with two 4gsm modules 6) the appliance is equipped with a hardware echo cancellation module 7) the appliance is equipped with a utms modules. zycoo only uses this module for internet connectivity. >> appliance hardware information 1) there are two slots on the appliance in which a communication module can be installed - numbered slot 1 and slot 2. caution - the numbering might start from a 0 in the software. 2) there are two 4gsm communication modules installed in the appliance. 3) the two 4gsm modules installed are zycoo proprietary modules. 4) each 4gsm module has four gsm/sim ports. the ports are numbered 1, 2, 3, 4. caution - the numbering might start from a 0 in the software. 5) the 4gsm module in slot 1, has two gsm/sim cards installed on port 1 and 2. 6) a sanity check was conducted by calling into the phone numbers associated with the gsm/sim, call was received by the system and hung up immediately. these calls are registered in cdr report. 7) the UMTS module installed, is a zycoo proprietary module. zycoo utilizes this module only for internet usage. this module wasn't detected when hardware detection was conducted. zycoo provided no instructions related to utms. >> appliance software information 1) zycoo u100/p2 appliance is elastix certified 2) following zycoo instructions; elastix 2.4.0 is installed on the appliance 3) some zycoo specific packages are also installed immediately after a fresh elastix install 4) from elastix web gui, under system > hardware detector, hardware detection was run and elastix successfully detected two 4gsm modules >> personal notes my personal telephony knowledge and asterisk/elastix specific knowledge is limited. telephony terminology and elastix interface aren't quite under my belt. >> present utility of the appliance i intend to use this appliance with two gsm/sim cards. the area where this appliance will be placed isn't serviced by wired internet. a need is to establish a local presence with a local mobile number. calling is a priority and sms is a plus. it will be terrific if utms internet access could be setup. it will make it possible to remote connect to the appliance for management, other access and sip services. >> configuration requirements (a) gsm/sim trunks (b) configure to be able to send/receive sms messages over gsm/sim (c) disa setup, for remote access (d) configure utms module for ppp/network/internet access (e) secure the appliance from unauthorized telephony use (f) knowledge transfer, email/text and phone (g) consultation session, to discuss future deployment possibilities
