Our goal is to create miniature plastic models of a molecule: beta hydroxybutyrate. We have an .stl file and have successfully 3D printed a prototype, but we have no way of actually making this into a moldable/manufacturable part. Please see attachment for an idea of what the molecule looks like (or you can search for it yourself). We realize some things may have to change a bit in order to engineer this for manufacturing (into a step / iges file), and to keep it cost-effective - you may have to redraw. We want to eventually make a steel or aluminum mold and produce thousands of these parts. Looking for an engineer with experience with designing for plastic injection molding. Thank you!

I need to develop a backlight solution using a grid of LED lights that have the light scattered before it reaches the light difuser material. This needs to happen in the shortest space possible (up to 2 cm width and with the LEDs as far apart as possible). I need the R&D to determine best solution to apply on the LEDs to scatter the light without loss (lenses?) and the best flexible light difuser material (I have my own idea on this). This is mainly a material sourcing job, as it doesn't require much design (LED + light reflector/deflector + light difuser). I want to source existing products to build this product as this project isn't meant for manufacturing. If needed, only the light scattering/deflecing lense (or a better idea) can be designed, maybe as an acrylic lens, preferably a one piece item for several LEDs instead of individual lenses for each LED. It is a very simple project but I ask that when applying for the job you mention your ideas to scatter the light so I can choose the freelancer who best understands the requirements for the job.

Hello, I am looking to create an entirely plastic suitcase. The measurements should be 20”L X 12”W X 4” deep. The material on the bottom of the suitcase will be 1/2” high density polyethylene plastic and the top should be translucent plastic. Plastic will be blow molded into a suitcase design. The suitcase should have a single partition inside measuring 2” in Width, on the right side of the case (opening the case should allow the compartment to open as the only thing separating it is the top and bottom of the case meeting while closed). The 2-hinge system should be entirely made of plastic with a permanent pin in each hinge. There should be a handle ½ on the top and ½ on the bottom allowing for a full handle when the case is closed. The closing mechanism should be comprised of two plastic latches that open (slide) horizontally on both sides of the handle. Material of latches should be high density polyethylene plastic. There should be small holes located below on the handle of the case allowing air into the case. 12 total with 6 on the bottom part and 6 on the top part each hole only having a diameter of .8 cm. The case should be able to stand upright while closed. With two plastic straight edges running perpendicular to the bottom of the case.
