I am looking to design small badge feeding system. The system will have top/bottom pinch rubber roller to transport the badge from the holding stage to the front first drive rollers. Second pair of drive rollers will continue to hold the material. Top and bottom rollers will be powered by using timing belt and timing gears. Stepper motor will attach to one side of the timing belt to drive the belt. Separate paper feed roller will be place under the holding stage of the badge stock. Stepper motor will attached to this roller to start the paper feed to the first set of pinch roller to take hold. Stage 1 Printer Body The body will be a rectangle box about 12 inch long, 4.5 inch wide and 5 inch height. Using light aluminum 1/4 inch flat stock to build the body. Top and Bottom will be open. The front and back will have a 1/4 inch slot for the opening for the paper stock to pass through. There will be a middle wall half way in the body to divide the body into conveyor side and paper holding bin. The conveyor will be mounted along the two long side of the walls. The conveyor will be only placed on the front half of the body. The back half of the body will hold the print material. The print material will have a shelf (1/4-inch plate) created inline of the opening of the front and back. (Holding Bin) Stage 2 Paper Conveyor 3 Pinch rollers will be used for the conveyor to transport the paper. 1st in the front of the printer. 2nd half-way in the front half of the body. 3rd next to the middle wall. Top edge of the rollers will be inline of the middle of the 1/4 inch slots in the front and back walls. One pancake stepper motor and a 2 sided timing belt will be used to drive the top and bottom rollers so that they are spinning in the same different to move the paper forward. The rollers will have the timing belt gears built in part of the roller shaft. The bottom rollers will use the outside of the timing belt and the top rollers will engage with the inside of the belt. This will than make the rollers spin in the same direction. The middle wall opening will be perfectly design so that it is 1-1/2 times the thickness of the print material. The purpose here is that when a stack of cards are placed on the shelf - than only a single card can pass though the opening. A small stepper motor with a 1/4 cut rubber wheel connected to the shaft will be mounted under the paper shelf to push the paper forward though the middle wall opening until the first pinch roller gets a hold of the paper. The stepper motor will make one revolution for each paper feed. We also have rough sketches of what we want tray to look like once we choose an design engineer
