This job involves coaching an inexperienced operations manager, who has just been hired to be the first ever operations manager for our law firm. We are a small law firm with 5 employees and deliver legal services nation-wide in Canada.
We have the unique opportunity to scale our business, but don't want to do so until we have improved our business operations for delivery of legal services. We need to improve our efficiency and service quality.
We would need you take on the role of a coach and do a weekly call with our operations manager and owner (me), to help the operations manager with planning, give feedback and guidance, and to help develop her competence in this role. We would like this coaching to happen over a period of six months to a year.
We are starting from scratch, so we anticipate our first priority is to document all our existing business processes using BPMN technique. We would need you to be experienced with using BPMN and to provide feedback on the BPMN maps created by our operations manager.
We would want your help to identify opportunities for improvement of our business processes and particularly what key performance measures we should focus on.
Key skills will be expertise in Operations Management, Business Process Mapping and Notation, Teaching, and Business Consulting.
A successful engagement would be that our operations manager is able to document our existing business processes, identify areas for improvement, identify our business process KPIs, and prepare monthly reports on our KPIs so we can measure improvement.
The right freelancer will be a teacher at heart and will enjoy helping a new operations manager succeed in her new role.
