We are looking to have prepress done on an existing design to optimize the text and image for offset printing on a Neenah Classic Crest Pewter stock. The attached file contains a paper background. This is only a simulation. Source files will be provided in Indesign and PSD formats.
Among the items we'd like addressed:
- Optimization (contrast, curves, brightness, etc.) of the lead product image, as it will be printed on a grey stock. We do have a photo retoucher who can also take instructions if needed.
- Tone value compensation, in line with Neenah standards
As a general rule with uncoated paper, imagery should be adjusted in prepress to compensate for the additional 5–15% tone value increase that will occur. The precise amount of undercolor removal is image-specific. Total area coverage should not exceed 320%.
- Because we're using Chinese printers, explicit instructions for the printer would be preferred. For instance, Neenah recommends using an in-line double pass for white inks on the darker stocks. There may be other recommendations we aren't aware of.
- Prepare separate emboss files for the EL graphic and icons. These will be blind embossed on the paper. Recommendations for the optimal impression depth would also be appreciated.
-Establish precise dimensions for sleeve printing (with the help of our printing partner)
If you would like to work on this project with me, please include a short message, relevant experience, and how you will approach the project. I'm a digital art director, so my knowledge of printing techniques is OK, but not great. I'll be wanting to work with the person who seems to have the best grasp of what we want to achieve, which is optimal results printing on a colored paper.
