I'm completing a non-fiction investigative book.I need someone to take my hypertext words in text, and also provided you in brackets, URLS, books, documents, lawsuits and interviews I describe and create endnotes. They'll be listed in unnumbered, without direct pagination referencing the text, in loose variations of Chicago-style endnotes for each chapter, listed in order of appearance in the chapter. Occasionally, some statistic or piece of data won't be sourced in the text I provide, and if you can quickly find it via Google or Google Scholar or Pub Med, that would be required as well.
But to clarify, 99.9% names and titles of all documents, interview sources and URLS will be provided you written by me and you'll just have to make sure they're presented in a consistent manner and in order as they appear in the chapter. Further explanations of the preferred form for the citations will be made clear in the text itself and when I speak to you directly. It's important you send me, if possible, an academic paper with footnotes or endnotes or other proof of your ability to compile such a list accurately.
Pay will be in the $15 to $20 or so hour range, so it's worth considering for grad student, academic or recent grad with time and need for cash, about 20 hours-30 hours a week for one to two months-- with the possibility that more time will be involved or, possibly a bit less. I'm not considering spending much above the $20 range, but I'm flexible if applicant has extraordinary qualifications and experience.
Given the precision , concentration and attention to detail needed, I would prefer to deal with people in North America, or English-speaking expats, with at least one footnoted paper they can submit to me for review; and I expect you to have prompt access to fax machine and willingness to take phone calls at hours that are convenient for you. [Going to a Kinko's to get a fax rules you out.] Given the confidential, hard-hitting nature of the material on deadly health care, I'll also need a signed non-disclosure/confidentiality agreement I'll prepare and you can tweak.
Please read this ad carefully before replying -- generally speaking, unless you can quality on the basic elements of skill, fee, location, English-first background, readiness and reference I can contact, please don't bother to apply. (Exception: some overseas people I've invited to apply based on their academic qualifications.) The book could have a major impact and being a researcher on it could add prestige to your resume as well.
