The requirements for a Shopify POS app that achieves the following objectives: 1. Loyalty Discount – provides a button in the checkout cart screen to compute a Qualified Discount based on a customers’ Qualifying Expenditure within a Qualifying Period and apply to select products in the cart. The button must prompt that a customer be selected in order to proceed. If no customer is selected, then no loyalty discount will apply. The discount will only be applied to line items of products with types that are NOT on the list Non-Qualifying Products and whose discount is lesser that the Qualified Discount. 2. Gift Card – after a successful sale is concluded check if the cart was assigned to a current or new customer. Then check if there are any products in the cart that have a tag with the prefix ‘giftcard_’ and determine the relative gift card value for that product and sum it up. Then issue a gift card via email with the sum value. Further information is found in the attached PDF.

This open source project requires an experienced Rails and jRuby developer: Examine the source code of the project before you bid on the job. Copyright in your work will pass to me, however the code will also be released under the GPL license. This provides a unique opportunity to get paid to develop open source and add a project to your resume everyone can see. The project is to migrate the project from Rails3 to Rails4. A lot of work has already been done, but more testing and bug fixes are needed. In addition, there is a range of new features which need to be added to the project, some of which have been specified and others are still needing some discussion and planning. Some of the enhancements are described here: Moving away from jRuby is not an option. It is critical that you are able to set up a tomcat server and run this application there for testing. Beyond this one task I have much more work available.
