OpenStrom is a new startup business in the trending smart electricity market.
This means there are lots of opportunities for the company and the employees, but also quite a lot of hard work required to grow from an idea into a scalable business.
Currently there are three people working at OpenStrom, so you would be employee #4.
Depending on the ability to acquire funding and customers, the plan is to grow to 8-10 people within the next 12 months.
The exact scope of your responsibility and tasks will be determined together and probably change over time, but generally you will be taking care of marketing. This involves refining the business model, defining the marketing strategy, identifying channel partners, PR activities and promotion.
Initially we will focus on reaching makers via Kickstarter for the initial batch production. After that we will target integrators that build smart energy application and look for a hardware partner.
While there will be contractors available for specific marketing activities (like design or website coding), this is a hand-on contributor role not a project management position.
Below is a rough outline of the first few months activities:
Gain understanding of the smart metering and home automation market through market research
Identify relevant events and programs
Plan marketing activities and event participation
Create competitor overview
Draft/create marketing collateral content (whitepaper, brochure, website..)
Research and prepare crowdfunding strategy
Support product launch preparations

Follow up on opportunities surfaced through crowdfunding campaign
Develop social media and community strategy
Research and recommend CRM strategy & tools
Review results and revise marketing strategy for 2016
Implement CRM strategy
Community engagement guidelines and activities
Channel partner identification and outreach
After the product launch a lot of these activities will become your day to day responsibilities.
