My mother was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and we as a family are putting together a plan for her treatment. She's seen several doctors, with some recommendations overlapping, and some recommendations conflicting.
We are looking for someone with a scientific background to complete research for us into what the science says about each possible treatment modality, including the expected clinical outcomes as well as any risks to paint a complete picture of how we should proceed.
For example, one of the common modes of treatment is through a selective estrogen receptor modulator called Tamoxifen, and while it shows some effectiveness in reducing or delaying breast cancer recurrence, there are significantly increased risks of other health complications such as uterine cancer, etc.
What we are really trying to do is, based on the available research, create a probabilistic view of what treatments should or shouldn't be pursued. See attached spreadsheet which is our starting point.
SKILLS WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
We want someone with a scientific background, preferably a PhD, or MD, with experience in scientific research and a strong ability to interpret results of scientific papers and/or find flaws in methods.
To get started, we would like to do a 3 way call with you, my mother, and I, to go over everything we are considering doing for her treatment, and the additional research and information we are looking for you to deliver. Time is absolutely essential here for obvious reasons -- we would outline everything required, and would need it delivered within one week from the start date. Expected number of hours required is somewhere in the 50 hour range, but we're not sure yet; you'll have to let us know.
