In connection with voice and speech projects for dramatic purposes, I need at least one lifelong speaker of Kenyan Kiswahili who speaks English well to Skype with me and allow me to make recordings of the session. The speaker may be asked read aloud English and/or Swahili lines from a script and an English narrative from a text I will provide, to tell me in English and/or Swahili about something that happened in his or her own life and/or to translate lines of dialogue from English into Swahili with me or without me. The speaker may also be asked to listen to recordings of Swahili speakers and advise me of their impressions of the backgrounds of the speakers. The speaker may also be asked to correct my pronunciation, but no teaching experience is required.
No audio editing is required, but you must have a webcam, a quiet place to Skype, suitable bandwidth for HD Video Skype and a headset with a Mic or headphones and an external Mic.
Recordings of your voice are *not* intended for broadcast, publication, scientific research or posting to an Internet archive for unrestricted public access. Rather, the recordings are meant to help actors learn to sound like speakers of Swahili.
By virtue of applying to this job, all applicants indicate their agreement that the content of the material I provide the contractor is strictly confidential, and agree, if hired, to treat such material as strictly confidential in perpetuity under the terms of the Upwork User Agreement. Please apply only if you are available immediately. This job may take one to three hours over multiple sessions. There is likely to be additional work of this kind down the road.
