We're looking for someone who can translate and transcribe a 171-minute interview from Spanish to English. The subject of the interview is Mexican, so familiarity with Mexican Spanish is a bonus.
This interview is for a short documentary film, so to help with the editing process, we require timecode at the beginning of every sentence or every 10 seconds if it's a longer sentence. Familiarity with the program Inqscribe is helpful but not required – it simplifies the transcription process and is very easy to learn if you haven't used it before. It also gives us an easier way to create subtitles.
Verbatim translation is preferred over interpretation, with the proper sentence flow reflected for an English speaker. In cases where the speaker uses an expression that doesn’t translate, these should be interpreted for an English speaker.
• Fluency in both Spanish and English
• Adherence to deadlines
• Attention to detail
• Responsive to feedback
Please submit a short introduction, your rate per audio hour or minute, and a sample of your work. If you are shortlisted, you may be asked to complete a short test translation.
