We have a Unity 3d project that needs some kind of version control system implemented and hosted on a central server somewhere. The project is currently over 5gb in size and we suspect over the course of development it may grow to as much as 10 gb. A free solution would be ideal, but we'd be willing to pay as much as $15/month in hosting fees if necessary.
We'd prefer to use Perforce however using Perforce.com the project file size is limited to 5gb. There are other Perforce hosting sites, such as Assembla.com, but to permit the 10 gb project file size we need would cost $49/month. This is unacceptable.
The best solution we have come up with is to set up Perforce on an AWS (Amazon Web Services) server. This would essentially be free of any monthly costs. We have an AWS account, we just need to set up Perforce and upload the project files. Our attempts to do so, however, have failed so we need your help. We need someone with more experience with version control systems and using cloud services like AWS.
We would be willing to explore other solutions besides Perforce and/or AWS. As long as you set it up, upload the project, and everything meets our requirements then we'll be happy.
-at least 10gb project file size
-no limits for number of files or individual file size
-at least 5 simultaneous users
-reliable server (fast connection, no down times)
-simple to use GUI (no command line stuff or anything crazy like that)
-easily manage branching, merging etc.
-will work smoothly with Unity 3d
-monthly fees no more than $15 (preferably lower than that)
Please send us a brief introduction along with your qualifications. Thank you!
