Irrespective of the 2008 crisis, the world is far richer in material terms than it was fifty years ago. But there is plenty of evidence that we are no happier and perhaps significantly less happy. Why? While organised religion has fragmented, the deep yearning in the human heart for devotion remains unquenched. However, we want a spirituality that does not give others the right to dominate our daily lives and a spirituality that is practical and experiential. While most people are either fully absorbed in the business world or in the spiritual world, I have been building businesses over the last twenty years while travelling to and from India thirty-three times, serving to build temples, publish ancient spiritual works and following exalted holy persons who have been practicing ancient spiritual culture for over eighty years. My goal is to bring the essence of these teachings, unadulterated and yet translated and repackaged in an accessible format through on line and off line seminars and retreats, on line blogs and courses and social media proliferation. I want to work with a small group of people who are able to work closely together in order to develop with me (a) mobile savvy web site (b) PC based web site (c) landing pages and conversion funnel collateral and (d) social media strategy and hands-on implementation. My criteria for selecting the successful applicant includes the following - (i) a company that is small and agile whereby I am working with the enthusiastic founders/partners. I don't want to contract with a company with a slick front line sales programme which then directs me to unmotivated staff. I am inspired by what I am trying to do and I want to work with people who are also inspired and want to make a difference to others (ii) the successful company needs to be able to think strategically while acting tactically. I am an experienced business person but I am not expert in the digital space. I know what I am creating, the message and the customer. I am not the leader in the digital domain. I want a company that will partner and lead and develop the digital strategy as well as implement it. (iii) I can create the written content and I need a small team who can use that content via all the chosen media channels. I can write the 100 letter, 200, 400 or 1,000 word articles and you will then proliferate this throughout social media. (iv) the successful team needs to understand how to nurture and navigate customers through a sales funnel (v) and be data driven, able to measure success and failure in quantitative terms (vi) be skilled in creating awareness as well the sales funnel process (vii) be disciplined and sensitive about operating with a defined and consistent brand voice and tone and, finally, (viii) be genuinely excited and motivated by this spiritually based educational product. I would be grateful if you apply with this job only if you can demonstrate evidence of all eight of these criteria being met. I would prefer three excellent and motivated candidates than thirty lukewarm candidates. One final point; you can either be a company or a few independent digital entrepreneurs who work together. I am fine with either. I need quite a rapid implementation programme as my first three day seminar is being held in Devon in the UK October 14-16, three months away.
