I'm looking for someone that can help me with the setup and design of my WISP in Southern Indiana. I'm expecting this to be quite a few hours and a long term job so the job will be weighed based on skills, abilities, proven track record, and hourly rate.
I started this project with the help of another company who steered me wrong. I have Gigabit fiber already in the ground or being put into 12 different sites in rural areas which are all on the outside of the fence at various cell towers. After discovering that the original plan as pitched won't work I've redesigned the "big picture" to be more of a mesh design with an easement to place a cabinet physically close to where the fiber has or is being installed and bringing it into the cabinet and utilizing a short point to point to get the signal from there to a 60-80ft Rohn tower nearby. From there we'll be redistributing in various ways. Some will be dedicated symmetrical point to points rate limited to 10-100M for internet. Some may be straight ethernet services. Some may be shared 20:1 oversubscription with speeds from 30x5 to 100x20 for residential services over P2MP devices. Some will be a P2P to a device on a utility pole in a neighborhood and then a series of mesh repeaters or something similar for the neighborhood.
All customers will have outside CPE. Some businesses will require static IP addresses. Others can be on DHCP. They will have their own subnets and will require a router and can optionally get one from us or their own.
My original plan was to use Ubiquity equipment, edge routers, etc but I'm open to alternatives like microtik and mimosa.
I'm in an area which is horribly underserved and this change is costing me a lot more than I had planned with all the towers. In each area I'll need input on what equipment needs to be deployed where to reach the people I need to reach that I can show you on a map. I'll be able to tell you what resources we have in the area like pole access, water towers, or placing our own towers and where we can do so. You'll design a network plan and drawing and required equipment list as well as and LOS requirements. We'll verify the LOS and purchase and install all of the equipment. Then we'll arrange remote access so you an configure the network routing. QOS will need to be configured for voice traffic as well.
You will be for all practical purposes, our network engineer. We'll call on you for changes to the back end of the network, for helping put together the routing to make it a true "network" with load balancing between the egress sites utilizing point to point equipment between the nearest sites for each site. And we may need you for occasional calls with business customers if they need something complex.
We are using Powercode as a billing and control system which uses a device called a BMU at each egress point for access control, statistics reporting, customer portal information and diverting customers to their portal when they are past due. So the network needs to be integrated with this system.
I need someone who's responsive and who's a team player. Someone who can communicate well so command of the English language is important. This could very well become a direct hire position depending on how well it works out because our plan calls for rapid growth.
