We are looking for an AWS engineer to rebuild our infrastructure. We need someone who can set up the whole environment and who will also continue working with us in order to maintain and extend the whole system as/when necessary. You must be a specialist in AWS and have the ability to both build the necessary infrastructure but also advise on the best approach/solution. We are not looking for a DevOps engineer who can do AWS but for an AWS specialist instead. AWS certification will be an advantage. We need to create 2 separate, isolated environments; one for production and a similar, smaller one for testing. Our current setup is on AWS but it doesn't meet all of our requirements, so we prefer to create a new one and scrap the old. The whole system needs to automatically scale up & down based on certain criteria that we will define, e.g. network traffic, CPU or RAM usage, etc. So every single component must autoscale, including EC2, RDS, etc. The whole system needs to be distributed across several multi zones for increased resilience/availability. We need automatic incremental daily backups of everything and hourly backups of the DB - MySQL. We want every change to be done through CloudFormation so that we can save the JSON configuration arrays in our code repo - this way we will be able to track all changes. Currently we use EBS for storing images and other static files but we would like to move everything to S3. We need to have full monitoring enabled and alerts must be send to us if something goes wrong. Code releases should be done ideally directly from our repo (Mercurial) and get synced across all instances. Similarly when a new instance is added it must pull the correct code revision and all settings must apply automatically. The whole system must have strict access rules and enhanced security. The AWS services we are currently using are EC2, RDS, Elasticache (memcache but in the future we will move to Redis), EBS (we want to move into S3 instead), Route 53, Elastic Load Balancer. We need you to install necessary software, extensions, SSL certs, etc. Finally although we want a robust and speedy system, we need to keep the hosting costs as low as possible, which is why autoscaling is important. We will also build a test environment with similar requirements but at a much smaller scale. The above are the high level requirements but everything is up for discussion in order to get the best possible solution for us based on the services that AWS offers. This is an urgent project so we would like to start as soon as possible. Saying that we won't compromise on quality in order to finish the project sooner.

Ever since we imported our Wordpress site on EC2 it has been super slow. I changed the setting in wp-config to point to the new DB. It doesn’t look like WordPress is actually using that new DB. It was still slow as can be. I changed the page title just so I could see if it was in fact connecting to the new DB, and it never changed on the page.

1) I want this to reside on EC2 and Redshift. 2) I'm open to different languages but prefer scripting languages (e.g., Python) 3) I want to load data from an API to an unmolested data table. ... Quickbooks Online, Xero Accounting, Salesforce, Zuora. Quickbooks and Zuora will work for a start. 4) I want to run calculations and build additional fields on separately identifiable tables or fields. i.e., clean separation between original data and modified data (as changed by app layer). 5) I want Redshift optimized for a few basic reports. 5) This is a building block for a platform that faces small and medium sized business customers (SMB). Each SMB would need its own EC2 and Redshift instance. So, replication of the setup needs to be scriptable. Update: A developer friend of mine just pointed out Amazon QuickSight. It seems to provide much of the functionality that I'm seeking. As long as it is extensible, I may use this as a core piece of the development efforts. I'm currently awaiting the Preview information from Amazon to learn more. Stay tuned...

Hi... I'm building an big Wordpress site with WooCommerce with many plugins. I want to have the ability to Auto Scale... I also want my site to be able to do something like the links under, but can we achieve this without having to install riofs directly on the server and/or by using plugins in Wordpress to connect to S3 and CloudFront? If we host everything in Amazon AWS with EC2, S3, CloudFront and RDS can we then drop plugins and handle everything internally on AWS? I also want to use CloudFlare in front of this with SSL from CloudFlare and on my site so that the connection between them is secure. https://github.com/skoobe/riofs http://www.affiliatewebdesigners.com/2015/06/02/using-amazon-s3-to-store-your-affiliate-product-images/ With "riofs" we don't need to upload images to the server only to Amazon S3. This mean you don't get an additional WRITE on your server and an additional READ on your server that are not required. Then images is saved directly to Amazon S3 without involving your own server at all. but can we drop this if we handle everything internally on AWS? Something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vg5onp8TU6Q PHP7.0.2 is a pluss
