Job Overview We at Distinctive Games are looking for an experienced concept artist to design characters designs for our upcoming iOS and Android game titled DEAD RUNNER 2 - the sequel to our critically acclaimed mobile game. You should have experience of producing character concept art that can be readily be used by 3D modellers to create the in-game characters. Project Overview Dead Runner 2 is an endless runner, viewed mostly from a 1st Person Perspective, where you are either chased through the forest, or alternatively you are the one doing the chasing. Being Chased At the beginning, the game will show a cut-scene inside a cabin, with the characters barging into a weak point of the wooden wall and breaking through into the woods, landing in a heap on the floor. The camera will then zoom into 1st person for your character. You will see the other characters clambering to their feet and along with you start running. At the point of starting to run you will hear a loud shout/shriek/moan as your captor realises you’ve escaped. This will hopefully add to some early panic and fear within the game. The Chaser The beginning of the game will be the same, where you see the characters breaking through the wall, however - the camera will be at a slightly different angle to focus on the character you are playing as to chase down the escapees. As you can read, to set the scene for the game we need to see the characters so the player has some attachment to them. The characters will also be seen in the following areas of the game. Character Select screen Start of the game End of the game Marketing Possibly icon We are initially looking for concept art for the following characters, with the potential of more to follow. EVIL Grim Reaper (Death) Werewolf GOOD Cheerleader: This is not to be your stereotypical cheerleader, all giggly and bubbly, but someone more like the character Claire Bennet from the tv show Heroes; a kind, yet courageous, nature, but for a time was insecure about her abilities, leading her to be insensitive. Military Man: This character is still in the military, and has already done many tours of duty. He’s always on edge and struggles to adjust to civilian life, haunted by all the things he’s seen and done during the conflicts. Graphical Style We are looking for a realistic with strong characterisation. We are currently working on a 3D Immersive Myst like first person game Odyssey (theodysseygame.com) that uses a compelling fictional narrative that blends an adventure story with the history of science. The player has to solve physics based puzzles to rescue the family in the game. Our current game focuses on astronomy and physics of Galileo. There is a journal that will be used in the game and the journal formatting/illustration/art/doodling is crucial for the player in the game. I am attaching the picture of our current journal formatting for reference. We will prefer someone with 2D art/concept art/game art background and the ability to grasp scientific concepts.
