I'm an experienced SQL Server DBA (and Developer) looking for an Oracle DBA for some very basic Oracle support. I understand database administration and can write SQL statements, but specifically I need some guidance and some quick questions answered about sqlplus and navigating objects in an Oracle database.
As I said, I am experienced with SQL Server, but need someone who knows Oracle to answer questions and point me in the right direction quickly. My questions will be concise and to the point (for example, "What is the system table that contains all users, and where can I find their roles", "How do I change databases/instances when connecting with sqlplus", "How do I unlock an account", "What do I look for if the Oracle Data Pump isn't exporting any rows").
Once the basic questions are answered correctly and in a timely fashion, I will consider moving on to more in-depth subjects concerning backup strategy, automating tasks, managing file size and disk space, general health checks, etc. that will take longer to answer and require more advanced skills and time, and possibly an Ongoing Project.
Essentially, I'm looking for someone to initially bounce ideas off of, answer a few DBA questions to point me in the right direction and keep me from making catastrophic errors. I'm NOT looking for someone to provide fulltime remote support...but infrequent on-demand guidance. I also am NOT looking for a developer...I need a legitimate DBA. Extra consideration would go to those who are also familiar with SQL Server and can relate or compare Oracle objects/concepts to the SQL Server counterparts.
