Overview: We are seeking a skilled Database Developer or Engineer to revamp or possibly replace our current Microsoft Access database system. This system is crucial for our Government Contractor Officer's Representatives, who are tasked with managing a wide array of data, including inspections and various administrative records. Given the sensitive nature of our work, particularly with military and government contracts, adherence to stringent security protocols is paramount. Responsibilities: Assessment: Conduct a thorough analysis of our current Microsoft Access database to identify key areas of improvement or recommend a transition to a more efficient platform. User Experience: Redesign the database interface to be more user-friendly, ensuring that data input and retrieval are streamlined and intuitive for users with varying levels of technical expertise. Data Archiving: Implement a robust archiving system that allows for easy access to historical data while maintaining system performance. Data Input & Management: Enhance the data input process to minimize errors and redundancy, and improve the overall data management workflow. Automated Operations: Develop automated functionalities for routine tasks, including weekly data backups and report generation, to improve operational efficiency. Security Enhancement: Apply best practices and latest technologies in data security to ensure that all information is protected against unauthorized access, especially considering the government and military context of our operations. Training & Support: Provide comprehensive training for end-users and ongoing technical support following the implementation of the new or revamped database system. Requirements: Proven experience in database development, with a strong portfolio showcasing projects involving complex data systems. Expertise in Microsoft Access and familiarity with alternative database platforms (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL), including their pros and cons relative to our needs. Knowledge of best practices in data security, especially regarding government and military specifications. Ability to work within the constraints of government contracts, including adherence to specific security protocols and confidentiality agreements.
