I subscribe to a research service called Green Street Advisors (GSA). Amongst the research GSA provides is a spreadsheet containing data about individual companies in their research universe and an aggregation of some of that data to the sector level. This spreadsheet is published in both weekly and monthly frequencies. Weekly updates are published on Friday evenings using closing data from that day. Monthly updates are published on the evening of the first business day of the month, using closing data from that day. The difference between the weekly and monthly updates is chiefly this: the monthly update includes a full update of every component of the GSA spreadsheet, while the weekly data may include only selective updates. We download and save each Excel file as it is received. Historically, we have aggregated data from individual Excel files into a flat file (tab-delimited .txt file). That was sufficient for a time. But we would like to create some form of SQL database to manage the data. The purpose of this is two-fold. One, we wish to ensure data integrity, and we believe a database would be the best tool to do so. Two, there are periodically changes to the fields in the Excel file as it is provided to us (e.g., new companies are added to the research universe or new data fields are provided for all companies) and we would like a robust way of updating our aggregated data file. (As you can imagine, there was a great deal of manual work in the past to make this happen.) What I am requesting is this: I would like to receive a proposal from you for the creation of a robust database that enables us to quickly and easily update the database as we receive weekly and monthly updates of the spreadsheet from GSA. My primary concerns for the project are articulated above. The deliverables will include the database itself as well as documentation of the database and the process for updating it. For your reference, I will send file upon request

Looking for an experienced developer to develop the basic framework and architecture for an Appcelerator-powered mobile walking tour app. The mobile application will download content and resources from a MySQL DB and store the information locally. The functionality of the application is as follows: 1. Utilize the Google Maps API to track user location, send proximity-based push notifications when near tour stops, and present the user with tours based on their proximity. 2. The playback of video and audio, even when the screen is locked. 3. Track and record User Interactions to provide insights into the User Experience. 4. Have a social login and the ability to share content. 6. Implement the FLICKR API for public domain photos at various tour locations. Additional functionality may be added depending on the proposed contract. Additional functionality includes: 1. The use of WikiPlaces and Google Places API to chart additional locations on the tour map. 2. Implementation of Vuforia for Augmented Reality. 3. Allowing users to choose from a list of preferred tours. 4. Tracking and saving user preferences and places they've already stopped. The project has a dedicated designer that is currently developing assets. However, for this particular project, I am looking for someone to only develop the framework, implement the API's, establish the working connection with the, and engineer the UX. In other words, I'm looking for someone to develop a fully-functional, interactive wireframe. The project will be completed by our in house designers and programmers. We have wireframe designs ready to send over and a completed UX flowchart and architecture for your use.

** 1. No agencies, please. 2. If you do not have significant experience with Python, we cannot accept your application. 3. Django experience strongly preferred. 4. If you cannot address the criteria in the application, we also cannot consider you. ** We are looking for a smart, skilled backend developer to join our distributed team. We are working on a SaaS B2B music app, and have clients on three continents. We have two front end developers, and one backend developer. We're looking for a backend developer to help with overflow tasks. The work will initially be project based, but we're looking for someone to work with us part-time, long term. The developer we're looking for will have significant experience in Python, and ideally Django and AWS. Ideally, you will have strong experience with database query optimisation in a Django context, and setting up automated testing for web applications in rapid development. Our core team work in AEST, but many of our customers are in the US and Europe, so we're looking for someone who can be online a few hours of the AEST business day, but can also help monitor the application and troubleshoot overnight, AEST. Important skills: • ability to work independently with minimal instruction • write clean, scalable, well documented code • ability to accurately estimate time to complete a task, and then to hit deadlines • excellent written English communication skills. We're a good team to work with, and we like what we do. Thanks!

I am currently seeking an experienced developer to create a location tracking app based off of a database feed. The app needs to be simple, integrate with polymaps or something of the like, and update location as each item is scanned. The purpose of the app is to be able to tie a reference number to a specific location. More details will be provided upon request. Current local developers have proposed Meteor as a development solution, but I am open to suggestions.
