The Society for Information Management (SIM), the premiere network for IT leaders, is seeking an experienced PR professional to help raise its industry brand profile via placements in traditional media outlets. With its membership of over 5,000 IT professionals, many of whom are the foremost experts on all things IT, SIM would like to leverage this expertise to generate wider recognition.
To accomplish this, we’d like to hire a part-time, contract PR professional to perform the following tasks:
Generate coverage of SIM’s original research produced by its Advanced Practices Council
Generate coverage of SIM's IT Trends study.
Identify op-ed opportunities for its senior leadership.
Monitor the news cycle for IT-related issues SIM members can speak on to journalists covering those issues.
Monitor the news cycle for opportunities to relate current events to Advanced Practices Council research.
Draft and distribute press releases.
Invite press and influencers to our major events, especially SIM’s annual SIMposium conference.
Those interested in the position should give an overview of your experience (especially any relevant experience working with IT clients), how your consulting engagements typically work, and some basic pricing information. Note, we’re more interested in hiring a single individual rather than a PR firm.
