I would like to find someone who will listen to my idea, and run with it without a ton of direction. The idea is fairly simple, but I'd like you to be integral in helping to decide how it is done.
The project is this:
I want someone who develops in python to write a script that is always running which goes out and grabs listings live as they happen from ShopGoodWill.com and places them into our database and predicts whether the item would be a good deal to purchase or not. The front end can be in php if you'd like, but I'd like to use pythons multithreading capability to pull the listings quickly.
The script should predict in a couple of ways. It can use historical data from close auctions on ShopGoodWill.com as well as historical data from closed and currently opened auctions on Ebay.com
Predicting whether it is a good deal or not can also be done by looking up the value of that item or similar items that sell anywhere online. I'll leave that up to you.
In the end, I'd like an interface that shows me the best deals, when they are ending, and predict the maximum amount I should pay for the item with shipping costs taken into consideration. Id also like to be able to initially make bids via my interface, and hope that we can make the system smart enough one day where it will auto-bid and buy the items itself.
We can talk more in depth about this, and I will tell you how I think we should do this and I'd love your input as well.
This is an ongoing project that should bring 20-30 hours per week until we get the project done, then ongoing maintenance.
I would like someone who will type with me via Skype for communication and get this project done with minimal supervision.
