I'm currently in the process of attempting to write a novel. I have an almost there plot summary but I am being held back by my own inability to self manage. I need help in identifying the gaps in my novel so that I can better prioritize and task myself to completion. I have a well thought out story and relatively well developed characters but I am now in the phase of putting it out and am seriously struggling with organization/what to tackle first etc...It's my first novel and I believe I have some skill gaps re: how to organize myself into completion.
I need someone that will keep me motivated and accountable. I am aiming to finish my first draft within a month/ two months max. Sounds ambitious but I work best with deadlines.
From the technical point of view: As aforementioned, I have the main outline for the book ( and several chapters) but am very much stuck on the structural development and am not able to see what works and what doesn't anymore ( I imagine this is what happens when you are staring at the screen all day). I - desperately- need a fresh pair of eyes, and accountability.
My main focus right now is to finish that first draft. I need someone who is able to understand the kind of genre I am writing ( psychologically based fiction) and professional editing ( I have a tendency to confuse tenses etc especially in reference to dialogue). The most important thing for me is consistency i.e we have a day where I send through what I've done and a specified time period in which you would get back to me with feedback etc.
From the coaching side, I'd like someone who is able to motivate me to get past certain road blocks when it comes to novel writing ( we are after all our worst critics) and push me forward. I am passionate about what I am writing but unfortunately my lack of self management has me spending most of my writing hours twiddling my thumbs!
