Here's a good job offer for newcomers who need to bulge up their portfolios. I'm about to publish a special super-hero novel. That book is divided in 26 chapters. For this book, I need 26 detailed, full page A3 black and white illustrations, one per chapter.
That's where you come in. Remember those small, hand-drawn illuminations that adorned old Bibles? Or small vignettes, like the 3 illustrations I attached to this job?
Well, our project will be similar. You're going to create drawings that come at the beginnings of the chapters of the book.
Basically, the illustrations are composed like this: All illustrations have a big letter in their centre: I'll give you a font so that you know how the letters are supposed to look. And the events and characters from the chapter play out around the letter, in front of the letter or partly behind the letter.
In other words, they're similar to the example vignettes I have attached to this job. Except that they're super-hero vignettes, and hence, must be drawn in a comic book-like style and feature super-hero-themed characters and/or scenes. I need the finished illustrations as scalable vector files and as editable, layered PSD files.
The job should be finished within 4 weeks after we start work. (But remember, the sooner we finish this project, the sooner I can pay and feedback you!)
For this job, I'm looking more for a superhero comic book artist than a proper book illustrator.
With a few exceptions, the illustrations have background.
But those illustrations are not cartoons or caricatures, so the characters and objects in it must be drawn realistic yet exiting. Like super-heroes and other characters in comic books.
Art style must meet the following requirements:
The characters must not be caricatures. They must be realistic and detailed drawn, yet be able to be utilized in fantastic scenes. Hence, the characters mustn't be in stiff poses.
The illustrations require a detailed art style.
At the beginning of the work, you'll receive a detailed PDF document from me. In this document, there are detailed instructions, reference illustrations of how the characters in the pictures look and how every picture is composed. I'll give you detailed instructions about just what exactly I need for each illustration. If necessary, the artist must be ready to make revisions to the illustrations.
Please attach at least 1 old b&w illustration sample to your bid/message, so that I can judge whether your art style is right for this job. Don't just link to your online-portfolio: I won't visit it.

Upon payment, all rights to the monster illustrations go to me. Budget is limited to 65$ for the set of 26 illustrations, but a positive (and detailed) feedback is assured.
But the feedback is NOT considered part of the payment. It is something I give customarily for a very well-done job, my way of giving back for the good job that was done for me.
And it has proven on other places to be a BIG help in getting new work for artists.
And, of course, your name will be named in the "impressum"/copyright page of my book as book illustrator, which alone already should generate some nice new marketing opportunities for yourself, as well: Congratulations, from that moment on you are officially a published book illustrator!
Okay, looking forward to your bids. Don't forget to answer all questions, to attach at least one old b&w line art sample of your past work (unanswered or sloppily answered questions and/or missing old art samples will cause me to take you from the list of applicants) and Good Luck!
