Ongoing development of www.EM360tech.com.
Aiming for a Content Management System(CMS) that will allow us to promote our content to potential members, give them the ability to share opinions between each other and also to nurture the membership audience and grow it efficiently.
From a marketing point of view our strongest selling point is our affiliation with Research Companies and analysts and as you will see in the homepage design we tried to showcase that as much as possible simply by listing the companies we work with and the individual analysts. Overall the homepage needs to clearly show a potential member what it is they can benefit from, by registering on the website and clearly show what the different available content is. Another strong point is that we record and create our own podcast discussions which is our major content offering, but of course it cannot stand on its own.
Also when a member logs-in we want part of the homepage to be customised according to what the member outlined as interests in relation with the content during the registration process – or what they have previously searched/downloaded and/or browsed at on their last visit to the site. The registration page will ask members for information such as job titles, interest areas, company size, revenue etc. So for example if a member listed Security as an interest area, once they log in, the newest Security podcasts, whitepapers and case studies should be listed in the customised area of the homepage. In the same way we would like to target specific job titles or any other criterion with specific banner ads rather than just upload banners randomly.
Another feature we consider important is automated e-mails. For example If a user makes a comment about a podcast or whitepaper and someone else replies an e-mail should be sent to anyone involved in the conversation but also to the vendor whose material is commented on, like facebook. Also when we upload a new whitepaper or podcast, for example in the security section, an e-mail should be sent to anyone who listed security as their area of interest. Can this be arranged in a way that once 5 new whitepapers for example are uploaded in one section an e-mail goes out listing the 5 latest materials to the people who are interested in them. This is to avoid of course e-mails being sent out with each single upload.
Furthermore, we want the website to go to a different direction than now in the sense that we would like each section of the website linking to the different IT sectors to act as a homepage to the specific sector. So for example when someone clicks on security the website would feel and be branded as “EM360 Security” and will ideally look as a standalone homepage dedicated to Security.
Of course the back end of the website should allow us to track traffic and member movements cleverly so that we can target them appropriately. We want to know who downloaded what but also we want to know which members are more active than others, the time spent on our website by each one and on which page. Generally, we want to know their every movement in the most detailed way possible.
From a database perspective we would like to be able to group together members according to geographical location, interest areas, company size, revenue and so on so that we can either manipulate our database for general purposes or targeted e-mail campaigns. We understand that the registration process will play a big role in this and of course we will ask for the relevant information on the registration page.
Nonetheless, as with all websites we are looking for something that will be as secure as possible with no spam members or unwanted acts.
Examples of websites we would be competing against are, www.siliconvalley.com, www.cio.com, www.searchcio.com, www.idgconnect.com
Obviously before we choose to hire the right individual to take this project on, we would want to discuss in further detail the full requirements of the site.
