The book is about diners across the eastern US.
Two caveats for a potential proofreader:
1. We'll need a fairly quick turnaround, as we hope to send the final file to the printer by next week.
2. ... We're still in the process of laying out the text into the book, so we may ask you to proofread individual chapters at a time.
We'll send you PDF proofs of the book. ... We adhere to a loose CMS style but, as you'll see, the text is fairly casual and conversational, so consistency is more important than formal correctness. This is not a heavy copyedit—just a proofread, to make sure there are no:
-Misplaced punctuation marks, typos, or misspellings
-Text inconsistencies, e.g. numerals vs. numbers written in text
-Text mistakes as a result of layout, e.g. a paragraph that got cut off and not continued elsewhere
-Other layout inconsistencies, e.g. uneven white space or indentation
-Photo issues, e.g. low resolution
