You are to prepare a technical report and recommendations for the following scenario:

Section A:  Specific Functional Requirements and Building Component Analysis:
(Suggested length for this section 1000-1500 words)

Technical Analysis of Framed Buildings
You are to identify 2 facilities (framed buildings using different materials, i.e., steel, concrete, timber) that you have either visited, used, or will visit/use.

You are to prepare a comparative report, which evaluates the functional and performance issues of the buildings. Where appropriate support your report with neat, fully annotated hand drawn sketches.

Section B:  Analysis and Comparison of Different Technology / System Approaches
(Suggested length for this section 1000-1500 words)

The old Northumbria university sports building has been demolished, the university wants to build a 5 storey building on the site to provide a library annex, incorporating a basement for archive storage. Propose and justify suitable building technology solutions for the following building elements:
• Foundations (assume a safe bearing strata at 12.00 meters)
• Basement
• Structural Frame
• Facade cladding and enclosure

Your report should justify your choice of technology and indicate how your proposals meet the required functional and performance issues required for such a building as well as how it meets the current Building Regulations. In addition to your report, you should include a neat, hand drawn cross section to an appropriate scale, showing your proposed technology solutions.
