My name is Joe and I'm the head of www.evoenglish.com. Evo English is a brand new start up aimed at entering the online English teaching market for Korean customers. I am looking to form a long-term, hopefully permanent relationship with a passionate and skilled full-time writer. The writer should also possess top-notch skills in English. Experience with ESL is a plus. If you are looking for a path to personal growth and would like to help build a new company, Evo English is for you. If you are an aspiring content developer and a creative person, eager to rise within the company and be promoted to tasks of higher challenge and higher reward, this company is for you.
You will join our small team which consists of myself, a web developer, a video expert, and our data specialist. Within coming months, we will have a teaching staff and proceed to grow from there.
Pay will be hourly. If the applicant prefers fixed price, that is also possible. The job will start no later than January 2nd, but will probably start sooner.
The contract will be full-time, 40 hours a week. Hours are flexible--just meet the deadlines. Contract length is estimated to be between 7 and 8 weeks. At the end of that, renewal is possible for another contract of the same kind. Promotion opportunities are not expected until at least 6 months, but pay rise bonuses for exceptional work are possible before then.
The work produced during this time will be about 80-90 blog articles. Articles are to be 500-600 words and should include a different header image for each article (which can be edited for you by another team member, if necessary). Blog entries will be comprised of 3 main sections: (1) exposition, (2) vocabulary breakdown, (3) grammar point. Here is an example: http://www.evoenglish.com/2012/12/16/edward-burtynsky-photographs-the-landscape-of-oil/
Blog articles should be written in clear English aimed for learners at the intermediate and lower-advanced levels. This will probably take practice and input to perfect, but it is very important.
Blog articles will be on a number of topics. Sometimes you will be breaking down the news. Other times, breaking down videos. Sometimes you will be given a topic and have to think of the ideas on your own. Sometimes you will be given a grammar point, and will be asked to write a topic around it.
THE APPLICATION PROCESS
Please apply and include the following documents/information,
1. Resume (if included in your Odesk profile, that's fine)
2. Previous writing work (again, if in Odesk, that's fine)
3. Cover letter 100-500 words explaining who you are and why you want to apply to Evo English.
*After applying,* there will be a screening process. I will hire and pay you for the writing of a single blog article (including header picture), to be submitted within 3 days.
If I like the article, I will hire you, or possibly ask to have a text chat interview on Skype (unless you prefer voice call). After that final screening, the hire will be made.
Thank you for your interest in Evo English.
