We are seeking candidates to fill a Senior Analyst opening on our Power & Utilities desk. Analysts are the bedrock of our research team and delivering mission-critical information and decision support to the energy industry. We provide FINRA-qualified analyst reports, research briefs and presentations covering U.S. energy generation, transmission, markets, and regulation. Our analysis includes:

-- Updates and implications of filings, orders, notices, and agreements on present and future power markets
-- Finance/Market trends impacting utilities, power generators, developers and consumers (pricing, regional supply/demand, market capacity by source and region)
-- Emerging market developments such as renewable, unconventional gas, and power storage

The research process includes a series of executive interviews with industry participants, synthesis of primary research information, and creation of quantitative models and forecasts for the power and utilities sector. Our audience is 10,000+ energy industry professionals including energy companies, institutional investors, service providers (consultants, lawyers and bankers), and other industry stakeholders like utilities and policy makers.

We are looking for high profiled thought leaders to keep up with our growing business and demand for our excellent niche research product. We value your intellectual curiosity, business acumen and dedication in your founding contribution to the strategic direction of our research.

This role will be on a contractual project basis, with a potential to transition to a full-time position in the future. Geographic location is flexible, but preference will be given to candidates who can work in New York City or Washington DC.

Responsibilities
-- Ensure consistent and timely publication of research reports and briefs on various power and utility markets
-- Develop and maintain relationships with research contacts and clients
-- Provide market updates to clients via analyst calls and webcasts and speak at conferences
-- Support and be lead contributor for consulting projects
-- Partner with sales team to provide the best possible customer experience to support customer retention, new business and business growth

Qualifications
-- BA degree in Economics, Engineering, Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, or related field of study. MBA or Ph.D strongly preferred
-- 5+ year’s previous experience in the power sector or related field
-- Knowledge of FERC, EPA and regional power market (ISO,RTO, PUC) regulations; wholesale and retail electricity markets
-- Exceptional writing and communication skills
-- Solid quantitative analysis, ability to create forecasts using assumptions gleaned from primary research
-- Market research, policy analysis, industry analysis, financial and equity research experience is strongly preferred
-- Prior management experience a plus
